The artist has handed over the complete sum of his £25,000 honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to save the UK's grassroots concert spaces.

Fender was given the prize on mid-October as his latest record his work was chosen as the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

Fender has opted to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the vital role grassroots venues played in his beginning days.

"I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it weren't for all the gigs I did around the area, and beyond, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – approximately 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts including Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to support the industry, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which supports independent venues.

Fender also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help thirty-eight local spots across Britain.

These funds helped locations that were dealing with potential shutdown due to challenges caused by flooding, blazes and personal losses, as well as permit problems, court cases and sound issues.

Additional spaces were granted monetary aid in upgrading infrastructure and gear that helped performers and audiences.

"The concept that revenue from concerts in major spaces backs the smaller venues, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," Fender has said.

He is not the first artist to contribute his honor prize money to worthy causes.

When the band won the award in 1996 for their album the album, frontman the singer announced that the act would donate their cash to the non-profit War Child.

In 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her bounty between several charities, including the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I gave a £1,000 to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they required new equipment," she explained to outlets.

In recent years, the band gave their funds to the youth organization that nurtured their group, as well as other independent music bodies.

And the 1994 recipients the group contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the condition.

"The victory was sufficient," stated singer Small. "The cash was the extra but we could do without the cherry, because we had the honor. So our winning affected somebody else's life."

In the past week, the trust revealed it had rescued several local spots in south-east England, by bringing them into community ownership.

One venue in the city and the other in Bristol were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is funded by a national body and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the properties.
